ABOUT THE CONNECTION ELEMENT

Hello I’m Lisa,

I am passionate about helping families navigate a path leading to a compelling future. The journey through Neurodivergent and Anxiety diagnosis & support can sometimes be bumpy. It can sometimes feel like nobody understands the reality of what is happening for you and your family. The courses I’ve developed, I created based on lived experience. My intention is to help you feel you are not alone. I love the work I do and feel like my own experiences as a parent have helped me develop a deep understanding & compassion for young people & families.

“The less flexible a child is able to be, the more flexible the adults around them need to become”.

Professional Background

I have experience working as a School Social Worker within the Department of Education in both Primary and Secondary schools, working with children and young people aged between 5-18 years. My role involved liaising with educators and families to improve student outcomes within the school setting and within their families. I loved working with children and so completed a Graduate Diploma in Primary School Teaching. I taught in Melbourne’s South Eastern suburbs. My Social Work skills partnered well with my teaching degree. After starting a family I completed the Associate training in MSL (Multisensory Learning). This evidence based training enabled me to work for myself tutoring students who had learning disorders like Dyslexia and Dysgraphia. Many of my students where autistic or had ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder).

I am always looking to upskill, and completed Brene Brown’s Dare to Lead course - how to teach Courage building in 2021. This enabled me to set up my business supporting families who are experiencing School Can’t & Burnout.

The greatest skills I have attained I have learnt from parenting my 4 neurodivergent children and supporting them through their schooling. I believe my personal experience has enabled me to develop a deep understanding and compassion for families.

Parents often say to me they feel lost, disconnected and alone. Feeling that no one understands what their family is experiencing. They question their parenting constantly. In my courses I aim to help you understand more about autistic burnout, anxiety, neurodiversity, reasonable adjustments at school and collaborative strageties that can help you feel there is a compelling future for your child and family.
