Supporting Students experiencing School Can’t
Professional Development for Teachers
This professional development supports teachers with practical, evidence-informed tools to track and strengthen the progress of students experiencing school can’t. It unpacks the deeper factors contributing to attendance challenges and guides educators in understanding a child’s enjoyment of school, sense of connection, and feelings of competence. The training explores how thoughtful, reasonable adjustments can make a meaningful difference for students with additional needs. It also focuses on strategies to increase motivation, foster belonging, and build students’ capacity for self-advocacy within the classroom.
The PD is facilitated by Lisa Spicer — a teacher and social worker with lived experience — whose work is driven by a deep commitment to supporting educators in the vital, compassionate roles they hold.
